South Okanagan Similkameen Conservation Program (SOSCP) is a partnership initiative that brings together a wide array of government and non-government organizations, indigenous cultural and academic institutions and others under one umbrella to conserve the region’s unique species and spaces. Founded in the year 2000, there are now fifty SOSCP partners working collectively to conserve nature in one of the most biologically diverse and at-risk areas of Canada.

Organized in 2015 by local elders and leaders, First Things First Okanagan (FTFO) is a non-profit under the British Columbia Societies Act with the mandate to educate Okanagan communities on global warming and to promote and organize for the actions that will help build a sustainability society. Using a broad range of activities, including school programs, speaker’s series, alternate energy symposia, sponsorship of election debates, lobbying of local, provincial and federal politicians, art based events and more, FTFO has delivered the message that climate change is real, but together we can make the changes that will leave a better world for future generations.
